Catalina State Park Update

So here we are at day 6 in Catalina State Park. Really nothing significant to talk about. We are simply enjoying the blue skies and warm temperatures (but it does cool down at night).  Have taken a few short hikes with and without Breezie but as yet not attempted anything too long or difficult. She is so obsessed with prairie dog holes and horse "droppings" it's a challenge to take her anywhere. We did take her on a canyon loop trail that involved water crossings so she did get a chance to get wet and dive for rocks. But here at the campsite she can't keep her nose out of trouble. Currently trying to find boarding for her so we can do a hike up Sabino Canyon next Monday.  Dogs are not allowed and it will take us about 6 hours to complete so we need to find her a place to stay.

Without boring anyone with our day to day activities (or lack there of) we are just going to post a few pictures of what we see here at Catalina State Park; a campground we have been returning to every Southwest trip for 8 years. The Park is now like a "haven" outside the city where it once was a little more remote. The area has changed immensely with unbelievable ongoing growth since we have been coming here; but we still always want to come back. Really like Tucson.......

Breezie promises she will keep her nose out of the cactus if I keep my nose out of the Crown Royal. We did not reach an agreement!

Our home for 14 days at Catalina SP
Cocktail hour now that the sun is setting
She is "all in" for the prairie dogs!
Looking for rocks and happy to be wet
There is water in them "thare" hills
Breezies' swimming hole at the river crossing

Recent boulder activity moving downhill due to heavy rains

We found ourselves saying " the landscape has changed " WOW!

  2. Greetings from the midwest! Currently snowing, we already have about 10" of accumulation. Mason and I are ready for the Superbowl. We are slow cooking some ribs. Good luck on the board, Breezie! ;)

Love the pictures and really appreciate the captions. Amazed with the boulder activity! Enjoy your travels...XOXO,
